Default OK here is a scenario.... What would you do?

Board has been rather slow lately. So I got to thinking. Read the whole post before answering.
The pictures break the story up a little so bare with me here.

Here is the Scenario. You are hunting some where in the heartland. It is 7:15 AM on Nov. 3rd
right in the middle of the rut.

You have this buck and this doe broadside at 25 yards......

But you catch movement 100 yards back down the trail where they just came from seconds
ago and you spot this big boy.

This big boy has his nose to the ground is scent trailing the doe. The doe is standing
right next to the smaller buck.... The smaller buck is obviously getting nervous from the sight
of this buck and may bolt any second. Probably running the doe off in the process. Past
experiences have taught him he is a subordinate to this dominate buck.

So here is the question?

What would you do? Shoot the sure thing very respectable P&Y smaller buck or the doe who
are still 25 yards broadside?

Or hold out for a shot on the "once in a lifetime" big boy who is 100 yards away closing in fast?

Let me hear it... What would YOU do?

I would definatly hold out and wait for the big one to come done the trail why waste a tag on the littler one when you know that that big buck is out on your land you will more than likely get a shot at him if not that day maybe the next.

I would deffinately wait. That first buck is nice but golly, bucks like aren't rare. The 2nd buck is a buck of a lifetime, and most people would be lucky to even seen one that big.

I was in the relative same situation once. I once past up a 150 class droptine buck with my bow, for a bigger typical behind him. The bigger then turned and went another way, and I went home empty handed. But a week later, I killed that droptine with my rifle, so it all worked out.

Being that big, I would most definitely wait. Now, if we were only talking another 10-20 inches in antler, I'm not sure, THAT would be a tough one.

Was there ever such an easy question? I would wait for the big boy.

Wow!

What a decision, well becides kicking myself because it's not gun season and I don't have my gun with me,I would wait for the bigger buck.

The main reason why is because as you say he was on the trail of the doe. So odds are he will continue to come my way. Even the fact that the younger smaller buck spooked out would be a good thing cuz this brute will probably come make more rubs and scrapes to further mark his territory and show his dominance.

I'm shootin'.
Too much can happen in a hundred yards and the one in front of me is bigger than anything I've ever seen while hunting.

You've got to go for the big boy, especially if the wind is right.
But,while I'm waiting for him,I'd have to get my Ronco pocket defibulater ready and pray that if I get a shot,I'll never look at a girlie magazine again!!!!!...Bob
