RE: Why field dress with rubber gloves?
For all the above reasons. Never wore them until I got an infection in my hand from bacteria from an elk. Had been climbing around in Colorado mountains and had a very small scratch on my right hand. A week after getting home, my right hand was swollen and so sore I could hardly bend my fingers. Antibiotics fixed it, but will never go afield without rubber gloves again.

I've never worn gloves gutting a deer. Maybe I will start. I too get an allergic reaction, but only sometimes. I haven't figured out why sometimes and not others. I will get some hives on my arms, a nose that runs like a faucet and swelled up eyes. Other times I might sneeze once and that's it.
