Default Kinetic energy for deer & elk

I did a search but couldn't find any answers on this. What is the recomended kinetic energy for deer and elk. I would like to know the minimums because I recently lowered my draw weight down a bunch on a new bow and I know I have plenty for deer but may be going on an elk hunt next fall.

I think it's 45 for deer and 65 for elk....Easton's Shaft Selector program which can be downloaded from their website, has a kinetic energy calculator, and it lays out different KE's for different size game.

About 35 - 40 for elk will be sufficient. However one would need to choose their shots and keep ranges to about 20 yards.

Kids go elk hunting every year with bows producing KE in this range. Even many adults do it with long bows and recurves and many are very successful at it.

Choosing a very sharp two blade broadhead would be a critical component.

I shoot as much as I can pull and shoot accurately. For me, that is around 75 lbs of kinetic energy.
