Default $100 for a drop away rest...need help

I received a $100 gift certificate to Gander Mountain from the fat guy in red.

I'd like to purchase a drop-away rest and I'm looking for input as to which is the best overall.

I own a Mathews Legacy and a Mathews Q2 and I may install the drop-away on one or the other.

I looked at the "Trap Door" and the NAP 4000RG. Didn't get to examine the Muzzy drop away.

Ideas? Comments? Who owns one and how do you like it?

Most importantly, have you had any problems with it?

I'm a little reluctant to buy the Trap Door because it seems like it could malfunction somehow, but I don't know enough about it to say with certainty that it could.

VC I use the vital bow gear ultimate fall away rest! I love it and holds up pretty good! it also holds your arrow in place until you draw. Plus it's made in the USA! I paid 100$ at my shop and Gander sells the a bit cheaper!

I like the muzzy and the drop zone mysfelf. If I you have enough cable travel I would suggest the muzzy, if not the drop zone is pretty nice as well.

Just my opion any way.

Trophy Taker ! You will be way ahead of the Game, and Happy with your Choice. Look on the Pro's Bows, and you will see a Lot of them using them. Must be a Reason=They Work! Good Luck with your Dilema!

Oh, I have one of those (vital bow gear rest), but when it was made by SME. I didn't have very good luck with it. I worked all right but it didn't hold up that well and some of the screws stripped out while I was adjusting it. I also had to set my knocking point higher in order to get it to work right. They suggest your arrow be one inch above the rest when it is in the down position so it clears well. To do this I had to have my arrow above the berger buttton hole in the riser.

Other than that I kind of liked it. I still have it in my box. I feel there are better rests for the money though. I would use a good prong rest before I would use the vital bow gear rest.

Again just my opinion, but I have used that rest. Oh and the one I had used a linkage system instead of a cord, but the same operation pretty much.

I had a Nap RG 4000 on my Outback and replaced it with a Drop Zone. The drop zone in my opinion for those model of Mathews is the best. I'm sure that based on design the Trophy Taker would be good as well, I've just never used it. The NAP just didn't drop fast enough and was tricky to keep consistent on my bow.

I use a Whisker Biscuit myself not a drop rest and it groups like you wouldnt believe. Personally just something else mechanical to go wrong. Keep it simple

Hey Paul my buddy had the SME one and I agree its junk compared to the new one! He had the same problems you described. Screws just falling out and stripped! When VBG took over they overhauled the rest and it's different, better! I really like it when its hanging in the tree and I pick it up getting ready to shoot, no worries about it falling off or making any noise whatsoever! It's funny that you say you would go with a prong rest before the SME because that's what I did. We bought new rests at the same time and he got the SME and I didn't care for it and got a prong rest instead. My shop sell these 10 to 1 compared to all other rests, so they tell me! Now we all shoot them and have had no problems! JMO!

Hey vc1111 how you been old man. I have 2 of the MZE and I love them one on each of my Dartons One of them I got the first year they came out and the other the next. Both take a beating from me a lot of shooting I switch bows about every other day. I am sure the others are good rests but I will never own anything but the Muzzy.
