I am freaking out, absolutely losing my mind, seeing bucks everywhere, can no longer control myself, spending every moment I can in the woods, hung all my stands, and lastly I think my fiance is going to leave me. Just kidding I am so anxious I can't hardly wait and I have scouted hard this year and come up with a couple of big boys that have been hanging around my stands this off season. AHAHAHA I wish it was Oct.

I live and hunt in Dutchess County and Orange/Ulster as well. Sounds like you will have a good time. This will be a banner year be prepared to see the biggest healthiest bucks you have ever encountered in NY. I have already spotted 3 140-150 old boys. For NY that is impressive and they are everywhere.

Hunting is like life. You plan and practice thinking everything is just right and suddenly the wind shifts directions and it's all over.

Deercutter,

Actually if you count the 2 tags you can have signed over to you from another hunter you can get 7 deer this year with a supersportsmen license.

Have you ever shot at Archers Edge 3D range on Route 98 right near Java?? Cool course.

I have been bouncing around in Alegheny county for the last 15 years but this will be my first with a bow.

Been working on finding a nice plot of private land to get permission to hunt with not much luck.

State land can be great if you find a nice secluded spot but you could come back the next year and see 10 trucks and 40 hunters......it is very random.

Anyone know any friendly dairy farmers in WNY looking to thin out the deer population on their land???

O yeah I'm going crazy! I've been shooting my bow daily now and today I start my scouting. A friend and I have spotted some bruzers in the fields and today we will be hunting for land.

I'll be in Steuben county (at our camp) in October. Trouble is, it's hard to scout from Florida... need a stronger spotting scope! Anyway, bring on autumn. Good luck everybody.

Hey nybowhunter11, I live in North Tonawanda and hunt in Gainsville. I put my bow & target in my truck at the beginning of this month. I try to practice 3 or 4 times a week. I practice behind my office which is located in the city, but nobody says anything. Can't wait for the new season! I'm ready.

Al I used to hunt on the other side of the creek behind the warehouse .We used to come in from Pleasantview on Sunnyview Farms when they were still there .I used to hunt Pheasants there just to show you how long ago that was .When I was a kid my Mom used to drop me off after School and pick me up at dark .I shot alot of squirels in that woods .I hunt in N. Java now we have around 1000 acres all together we hunt .I also hunt behind my house on Two Rod Rd in Alden .If you ever go to Tops in the D&L stop in the meat dept and say hello .I will get my Lic. some time next week , I hope I can get over the sticker shock . There going to have to give you a payment book if they go up in price much more .

Good luck
Frank

I'm from up here in Upstate New York, a little place called Barnes Corners. I am a female deer hunter, bow, muzzleloader, rifle, also a turkey hunter, got my first turkey this last spring with my bow, what a trip!!!! I also have a hunting buddy (female) and we do a lot of deer hunting up here. We like to leave our husbands at home or they go hunt elsewhere!!! That's the best way. Oh yeah, the guy who has a wedding the opening weekend, sucks to be you!!!! At least my hunting buddy even planned her pregnancy so it wouldn't interrupt deer hunting!!! Got to keep your priorities straight!!!<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_approve.gif border=0 align=middle>
