I hunt all day on occasion in a single stand, but not normally. It kinda sucks though watching deer crossing in a field in front of you while your eating lunch in a truck. Which happens to us on more then a few occasions!![:@]:D

I can hunt all day and do so, maybe 3-6 times a season, but for the most part, I'm just sneaking out when I can, usually after work. That means once time changes I'm hurrying to get in the woods so I can spend maybe an hour on stand. Would love to have the chance for all day stands more often.

I have just killed to many deer in the last few years between 10 and 2 to not be out there when I can.

I have done it, dark to dark. Pretty tough on the body and mind. I have stayed in the tree the whole time, not getting down even once. Lately I will hunt from dark to about 2 o'clock and go home. Another alternative is to go in about 10 am and hunt till dark. If you want to live in the tree you gotta have a top notch stand that is comfy. I recommend a summit climber or one of the newer ladders with the suspended seat and arm rests. I like to nestle the ladder between triple trunks. This breaks the wind good. Wind makes you cold. Wind makes you get down early. Buy some good fleece clothing.

Got some great ideas guys keep'um coming. My bro is one of those guys that can spend 5-6 days in a row going from dark til dark but I have yet to be able to hang. But I was thinking that next year I would try to do it on my vacation.

Man it has been a looooong time since I've been able to do that. It had to have been about a decade ago when I was 18 years old... Oh you mean hunting?:D ummm, seeing as I go crazy everytime I drive passed any open field with a patch of woods in the background, it's easy as pie! Just dress for it and have food, drink, and an empty milk container ready.

Everyone basically has the same idea. Get comfortable, warm, and find something that will keep you occupied during the down times. There has been too many deer killed by family and friends of mine during the mid day for me not to be in the stand all day, especially during the rutting periods. Just this year alone, my dad shot a 125" deer at 2:30 pm, my little brother shot one at 1:30pm, and my buddy shot a 196" monster at 11:05 am. Just goes to show that it does pay off. I try to pack food that will give you energy, such as; candy bars, p-nut butter and jelly, power bars, etc. One of the biggest things that I have to do is to get my mind set right. I have to tell myself I am going to sit all day no matter what happens. If I think to myself that if something goes this way or that way then I will get down, then I usually end up getting down. I take a video camera sometimes and film the animals I see. Just keep in mind, at any time big boy could show up, that's enough incintive to keep me in the tree. Good luck.

hmmm tricky question... YOU should really ask my wife about that one.... i would like to think i can last all day, but she will probabaly tell you only for a few hours....

all joking aside... i can sit in teh woods all day long.. i dont bring anything with me... just me and teh woods... toccupy my time by glassing the fields, watching nature, from the hawks, to the kestrels, to the tree rats. and even the yotes that cruise by form time to time... there is plenty to think about too! :D

eat some venison jerky from that monster 130# dressed doe i got early in the season...

you know typical hunter stuff!

if you have any electronic poker games, i have tried those but you have to know how to turn the volume off on those! they can be LOUD! [:@]

For me I only tempt it when the season calls for it, i.e pre-rut and rut. The rest of the season I dont bother unless conditions are right like weather fronts coming and going or major changes in food sources like dropping of persimmons or a fresh cut bean or corn field. i pass the time several ways. 1. if you hunt with a partner use 2-way radios with ear pieces they pass the time nicely BS'ing about what ever. Bring a hunting book, or even a game boy like some one else suggested. But what ever you do bring confidence in your stand. if your not 100% sure your in the right spot it will be almost impossible to stay the course. Also pack a lunch your stomach is your number one enemy!! and one more thing bring either a jug or a urine bladder to releive yourself;)

at 35 years old i can say that i'm at a point I might be able to. I saw an honest 180" + whitetail this fall and I could have sat all day waiting for him. The way i chose to hunt I was sitting for 6 hours and knowing that monster was close kept me going - no naps, no othing but watching
