Is this a BUCK or NOT?
Ok guys was out scouting this afternoon for a spot to hang a stand for late bow season and i came across this Nice size track so i followed it a little ways and came across where he had urninated, big spot in the snow with a redish orange tint to it so i followed the track some more and noticed the deer kept dripping pee ever few feet for about 50 to 75 yards. I had read once where you can determine a buck from a doe by there urine and if it is dripped along when the deer is walking it is a buck. And that a doe pee's in one spot and leaves no trail. IS There any TRUTH to this guys???? and whats everyones opinion on it?

hard to tell. you need to look at the track to determine if its buck or doe. If its in the snow, look for drag marks in the snow and how wide the tracks are. A bucks has a wider stance than a doe, because of his massive chest, where a doe has a more narrow track. You should have stalked him and shot him in his bed, i love tracking in the snow, very rewarding to kill a deer in its bed chewing cud.

Another way to possibly determine the sex is to see where in the tracks the urine spot is centered. A doe will be dead center as she squats where as a buck could be, and often is, off to the side a bit. As well, a does urine spot is usually more concentrated as it falls straight down where as a bucks can be spread out slightly more.
