Default question for people that own land

I usually go hunting on a friend of the families land that is directly behind my house, its good land and i know for a fact that there isnt anyone hunting it...but there has been a problem that has arisen the guy is out of town so i havent hunted it yet this yr cuz i havent gotten "permission" which i know he'll give, and for that reason ive been hunting some sh*** state land and havent seen a thing.....my question is should i go ahead and hunt it sense ive had permission from him in the past and hes told me that "your always welcom to hunt the land" or do i wait for him to get back from his trip and get the "written permission"? want to be the ethical hunter cuz i know theres to many people out there that give us good hunters a bad name.....any advice would be appreciated

i woudld for sure wait until he gives you permisson, and now you have to carry written permission by the owner the hunt their land. and besides whatif you do go hunting and he finds out you went without asking and you lose your hunting spot forever unstead of a weekend?

He said you are welcome anytime right? In VA verbal permission is all that you need on unposted land. On posted land you must have written permission. Good Luck

I guess the right thing to do would be to contact him to be sure,, but if he told you that your welcome anytime,, and you dont have to have written permission in your state,, then i would depend on how well you know the owner,, you will have to be the judge on this one,, with the statement of you always being welcome,, it comes down to how you feel about it, good luck..

I have a couple guys i let hunt on my land and tell them they can hunt when they want but i want to know when they're gonna be out there.Nothing more irritating than sitting at home planning where i'm gonna go and hunt only to get there and someone is already there!

Here in Michigan you only Need VERBAL permission.. YOU HAVE VERBAL PERMISSION.. You dont need it every Year.. I'm sure if he didnt want you hunting his land, he would have told you. Sounds like he's a good friend of the family. He already told you your WELCOME "ANYTIME" I see no reason to wait for him to get back, he's gonna say YES anyways.. GET IN THERE AND HUNT

"your always welcom to hunt the land"
This leads me to believe that he dosn't mind you hunting it but if it were me it would depend on how well I know him. Things can change from one year to the next and if he hasn't said your welcome anytime this year I'd ask. You may find the offer was still good but if the land is good huting it's better to get the land owners respect IMO.

I'd ask again.
