Default Radical ways to silence bows....

What radical/strange techniques do you use to reduce bow noise/vibration. Things you may not see every day. Do these techniques work for you? Materials used. Etc. I have heard of putting mole skin in the brackets that connect the riser to the limbs. Does this work well? What are the draw backs of this technique?

I shoot it under water

Dead silent and no vibrations.

drawbacks are that it only shoots at 24 fps
and decent bucks are hard to find in the bay<img src=icon_smile_shock.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

brbowhunter - One way I did it was to take the rubber tubing off the peep and replace it with small diameter elastic cord. Made a difference.

The most radical way is to buy a longbow and sell your compound - way radical and longbows are SOOOO quiet

Ask Frank &quot;PABowhuntr&quot;.......he's the king of &quot;Off the wall&quot; silencing methods.....He once shoved so much rubber up a bow's butt.....well, there may be kids reading!<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

For stickbows...Use Beaver Balls for string silencers and shoot heavy arrows (620 to 740 grains for my 55-70# bows). I've also found Dynaflight strings are more quiet than dacron or fastflight.

shoot heavier arras, get your silencers closer to the center of the string as this is where the highest amount of vibration occurs!

Introduce it to a sledgehammer and you'll never hear from that sucker again!<img src=icon_smile_evil.gif border=0 align=middle> Then go out and buy the latest, greatest, quietest new bow. <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

On a more serious note, you could load it up with Sims products.I've seen bows with 2 and 3 limbsavers on each limb, a couple on the cable guard. One mini on every accessory. Like others said, quieter strings, string silencers towards the nocking point, heavier arrows. A different or larger stabilizer might help. Don't use a bow quiver. Definitely do not use a peep with a rubber attachment. Make sure all screws and other fasteners are tight on any accessory. I've heard of guys messing with the limb pockets to quiet them down, but you better know what you're doing if you want to try that.

The downside to all this is a heavier bow and a slower arrow. On the bright side, if you drop it out of a treestand just as a big buck walks by, the buck probably will hardly even notice it.<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

Well thanks Matt. I would like to be the king of something since I obviously don't rule my house...<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

Yes, as Matt stated, I have tinkered with quite a few different silencing techniques in recent years. I have wrapped the limbs and limb pockets of bows in Sims Limbsaver wrap material...I have inserted rubber stoppers into the riser cutouts and the limb pockets themselves.....

..but my newest experiment is a direct &quot;rip off&quot; from Sims. Anybody see their new stabilizer yet? If you have then you know where I am headed next......pictures to follow soon...I hope...<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>
