If you could only hunt over one of the following, which one would you pick, and why? A scrape, or a rub line.

Scrape line. If they are being hit often you will catch him there.

well if it were a scrape and had just been made Id hunt over that for a couple of days cuz hes likely to come freshen it up. But the ? would be what time is he visiting that scrape. A rub line would depend on which way it was running to and from the area I hunted. Both are good to hunt but figuring out the time is the key. Id much rather hunt over a fresh scrape especially during the rut. early season id hunt the rubs.

Rub line, by far. scrapes are mostly visiited nocturnally. a rub line is a buck's travel route. thats where he's going to travel. they dont visit scrapes consistenly enough to get a buck over them. just because they make it doesnt mean they're going come back to freshen. and the chance they will in daylight hours is even less. rub lines connect the bedding area to a feeding area usually. easy choice. most of what is written about scrapes isn't very good information.

scrapes. I've found they will travel the same scrape line more consistent than a rub line. Could be several different rub routes. Could be only 1 scrape route.

So are rubs.

Don't hunt either of them. Hunt the doe bedding areas during the rut and your sure to find a bucks visiting all day.
