Sounds like your arrow was deflected. I would suggest not to take the shot in the future if it is to dark. There are many crucial decisions with bowhunting vs. gun. Good luck / shoot smart.

Ditto Martin.8.You owe it to the animal you hunt to only take ethical shots.You learned a valuable lesson,if it's to dark to see where your arrow went it's to dark to be shooting at the animal.Take heart you learned this lesson without wounding and loosing an animal and may still harvest him at a latter date

Guess who was 50 yrds bedded down with a doe from my stand on my way to it after school. The big guy i missed. He jumped up n took off like a bat out of hell. Don't have school friday gonna try to stay out all day.
