I'm just wondering...How many hunters that do not recover their animal consider their tag used at that point as opposed to those that go on and hunt as if nothing happened?
I've lost 1 deer in 12 years and considered my tag used at that point. I also include any non recovered ducks or geese to my bag limits.
I was just wondering does Any one else do this?

lets don't worry about it. we are the elite of the deer hunters. studies show that many, many more deer are mortally wounded each year from gun hunters than whitetails. some say that is because more gun hunters are in the woods, yet studies say "per hunter" more deer are shot and never recovered by rifle hunters than by bow. many a buck that has been thought to be mortally wounded by an arrow will survive. it isn't good to loose a deer, but as long as you practice and use good ethics on shots and give every effort to find your deer you are still an ethical hunter and should not feel bad about it.
