When is the Southeastern PA rut kick in?
Hey guys...New to the forum and new to Pennsylvania. Anyone out there local to the Bucks/Montgomery county area that can help me with when the rut gets going around here. Down in MS it wouldn't be till January, but I know it's gotta be earlier around here.

RE: When is the Southeastern PA rut kick in?
Welcome to Pa. I am a little north of you in Lehigh county but can tell you that the chase phase of the prerut in my area has already started to some extent. I have seen several bucks chasing does, various scrapes and rubs and the buck I just shot responded quite well to an estrous bleat from one of those can-calls. The actual breeding phase of the rut won't occur until the second week to third week of November most years though I hear talk that it may occur as early as the first week this year.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the responses. I probably won't be able to get our again until Saturday, but that should be perfect for starting to hit the horns. We'll see how it goes. I did see a small 6 or 8 with 3 does in a feild at night. I thought it might have just been a coincidence, but maybe I was wrong.
PABowhntr: I've driven up the NE ext and fell in love with the farm county there. Are the private farms as locked down as private land is down my way. I'm up for the drive, but down here if you don't own your own land or know someone it's real tough to find private.
