Default Buck shot 10-17-2004

After many family obligations and work I was finally able to get out in the woods on Sunday Ocotber 17 for some hunting. I sat on Sunday morning and didn't see a thing but it was still enjoyable to be sitting in a tree again. I traveled to another area for Sunday night and got in the stand about 3 in the afternoon. I hadn't seen anything until about 10 minutes before sunset when I saw this deer come in underneath me. He was to close for a shot when I first spotted him. He finally started to go away from me and I was able to get a shot at about 12 yards. He ran into some thick brush and I thought I heard him crash so I got down and took all my gear to my truck and returned with a flashlight. I immediately found lots of blood but as I snuck towards the thick brush I heard some more crashing so I decided to back out and return in the morning. I didn't sleep to good. My friend and I returned at 5:30 am and found the deer with a few minutes. He was right where I had heard all the crashing the night before. He weighed in at 191 lbs.

Hey...congrats on your buck. He looks like a dandy. Any idea on his score? Just curious.

Dandy buck you got there shed!!! Not bad for a first hunt out. i went on the 17 as well and it was too windy, i didnt see a thing so i opted to get out of the woods early so i didnt spook any big bucks in the area. I have still yet not have MY encounter with a deer this year.

WOOHOOO doggies! That's a dandy buck. You showed lot of restraint backing out of the woods. I don't think I could have knowing I'd put an arrow through that guy.

Congrats!
