One of my first times archery hunting I used some stuff on me boots. I was sitting on a fence line between about 200acres of cattails and a food plot, the deer start coming out of the cattails but at the other end of the fence, dern gonna have to crawl. I get about 150 yards down and i hear something behind, its a little basket and hes ready for some action. Now i was in a rather precarious position on my hands and knees with this buck coming up behind me grunting and snorting, luckily the guy i was hunting with had the same idea about moving down but he was about 5 rows into the corn he was nice enough to laugh so hard that he spooked the little guy away. we didnt kill anything but it makes for a nice story.

He even put his nose against my pull up rope. His upper lip was curling up like Billy idol, and he kept sticking his tongue way out kind of like licking the air.LOL

You guys are not going to believe the Hunt I had tonight. I got to the woods around 3:45. Today for the first time I used a scent lure called whitetail maniac!. I put some on a rag and dragged it behind me until I got close to my tree, then I left it lay there about 20 yards infront of where I would be.
Well, I was surrounded by deer within the 1st hour several doe were within 20 to 25 yards, then a small 4 point buck.
I told Myself I will not take a buck unless it is much larger than the one already on my wall... it is a nice PA 8 pointer... so I was pretty set on a big bruiser. After a while 2, six pointers showed up, both healthy young bucks very close... either one would have been an easy shot.... not big enough... then these 2 six pointers began to spar.... locking horns and pushing each other around... and I thought.... man this great.... a big guy will hear this.... and come to investigate.
Well sure as sh!t.... here he comes... a big buck... huge body... and coming through the thick stuff with a purpose.... he ran off the 2 six pointers and began looking around.... he was about 20 yards away from the tree I was in.... I was about 15 to 18 feet off the ground. The bottle of "Mainiac" was in my shirt pocket.
I put my binoculars on him, and saw his rack was almost identical to the one I have on the wall... it was a wider rack... but missing 1 point, making him a seven pointer. It was really hard to do this... but I decided to let him walk.... and wait it out for a really big monster buck.
So I just sat in my tree watching him.... then he lifted his head high.... and sniffed the air... and he caught wind of the Doe in heat scent.... he began walking directly at me.... he did not stop until his nose was up against my tree... he was looking right up at me.... me looking right down on him. He even put his nose against my pull up rope. His upper lip was curling up like Billy idol, and he kept sticking his tongue way out kind of like licking the air.
I was kind of laughing to myself..... holding perfectly still so not to spook him.
He circled my tree 3 times.... grunting and looking up.... then he smelled the scent rag on the ground 20 yards away.... he went running over to it.... digging up the dirt with his hooves and throwing the rag around with his rack.... then attacking a small tree with his antlers making a rub... then made several more scrapes... for about 35 minutes he acted like a nut right in front of me... the shot was there for the taking.... but I held fast for a bigger one. He finally worked his way out of sight, following the scent trail away from me.
And it was now dark.... and time to climb down out of the tree... pack up my gear... and walk out.
Well as I finished climbing down out of the tree... I turned around to jump onto the ground... and there HE was!!
Standing there about 7 yards away staring at me... this same big buck... huge body and decent rack... and he either wanted to fight or... well you know... he wanted to make me his love slave.
My bow was on the ground... out of reach... so I figured I will scare him away by jumping onto the ground and making some noise... I jumped down... crunched some twigs...and he took a step closer with head lowered...
I backed up... reached down for my bow... put an arrow on my string and got ready ...
I banged my tree stand... made a bunch more noise... and stamped my feet now.... sure he would turn and run...
he took another step closer... now he is about 5 yards away and it is really getting dark... so now I still have to unhook my tree stand from the tree, wrap everything up.... put my stand on my back.... and walk out. Hard to unhook and pack up while holding the bow...
I have to put down my bow to wrap everything up.... which I really did not want to do... now this buck starts to circle me.... walking 5 yards away from me.... and in a continuous circle around me.... I am also walking in a circle around the tree... keeping the tree between me and the buck.
Finally I got my gear all packed up.... and began walking out to the road... and this damned buck followed me all the way out. I could not believe this night!
I have never had an encounter like this before... man that stuff works!!

I believe it.I hav e seen deer do9 this and have had many close encounters like that myself. You are lucky that that buck didn't kick your arse though,I shot a doe from my stand a few years ago and had a smallish buck right below my stand that was with this doe. That guy would not let me get down from my tree,Finally affter i9t got dark I started making olots of racket and shinning my flash lightg and he left. Also almost got ran over a few times, bucks and does.
