He might be 2.5 years - but I wouldn't be surprised, and suspect that he was 1.5 yrs - Check for the "milk teeth" - you should be able to verify 1.5 or 2.5.
I think - its not too uncommon to see no brows after a tough winter.

Congrats on a beautiful deer. I think genetics play a large role in those things and also i really think that deer is only an "1 1/2" year old = first rack, but still a beautiful deer.

Here's a pic of a 6 with no brow tines taken earlier this summer. He was in an enclosure next to one of the roadway projects where I was surveying. They just kept following us up & down the fence line. If only it were that easy to get that close in the real woods...
