Well, new hunter to be exact. I did some rabbit hunting and bird hunting with rifles when I was younger, but this year is my first as a bowhunter. I've been up in my stand five times now and I've only seen one deer. She came in from my front right and got to within about 25 yards, behing a big cedar the whole time though. Anyway, my question is this, at what point does the heart stop sounding like a hammer in my chest when I see a deer? I tell myself I could have taken the shot if she had just stepped from behind that tree, but I'm not real sure about that. Does it get easier after a while?

Oh great. Well how is it they don't hear it? Surely they must.
I've been practicing for about four years for this, I'm a pretty good shot, can usually put six arrows in about a 2 inch group at 20 yards. I've just never had my heart beating like that at the range. I'm worried about this. I would hate to maim a deer instead of killing it.

The trick is to stop breathing until you turn blue. After a while your heart should stop beating. And if you are lucky when you want it to it will start beating again!! LOL
.....just wait till it gets cold and the rest of your body starts shaking along with it. I LOVE IT!!
STOP LOL it never stops P_T it just gets worse lol

Welcome aboard P_T_! I think the best part of bow hunting is getting close to animals and the rush associated with it. In the future you may be able to control it better buy I'll still be there.
The day it disappears (as it has when I'm holding a gun) will be the day I hang up my bow on the mantle. At this point my guns will be hung for a good while.
