Effects of Caffeine
#1
I was shooting great groups last week out to 35 yards. Now last three days after working the night shift I shoot and can't hit worth a darn. I was having a hard time holding the pin on target. Well I know I drink a ton of coffee all night and sometimes don't realize how jittery it makes me. Anyone else have similar problems?.........Dabow

Same here. My problem is I drink coffee all day. I have a couple cups of regular first but by about 8:00 I am on the decaf. It is nothing for me to drink 1.5 to 2 pots of coffee a day. Damn computers will do that to a guy.

I quit drinking caffiene. All I used to drink was DR. Pepper, day and night. I suffer from General anxiety and acid reflux both and caffeine is not really good for either. However if I didn't drink it I would feel sick and get really bad headaches. At any rate my anxiety was getting worse and I have been threatening to stop any way so I did it. I was sick for about a day and then it went a way.
You don't notice so much after you quit, until you get some in you again. Then your like whoa! what's happening. I drink sprite now, but every now and then I treat myself to DR Pepper (I love the stuff). And I can really tell a difference after getting the caffiene in me.
Take my word for it, caffeine is bad for you. It's a drug just like everything else, it's just legal like the crap in cigerettes is all. I don't know if you will shoot better, but your body will sure like it. And you will probably sleep better as well.

When I was spot shooting my normal routine for a shoot was to get up in the morning and take several tylenol to avoid the "no caffeine headache" that Paul was refering to.
I too quit for awhile but I fell off the "coffee drinkers wagon" last year.[>:]
It does effect your steadiness!

Absolutely affects my shooting. I notice a definite difference when I shoot early in the morning after having coffee. A little harder to stabilize the pin especially if I try to hold it for any length of time.

Tonight I will cut way down and stop early. Than in the morning I will see if the accuracy returns. I am quite certain this is the problem but it sure messes up your confidence......Dabow

I don't know what is worse drinking coffee and perhaps getting a little jittery when shooting or getting tired or lethargic while waiting in your stand. I personally need the caffeine in the morning just for the boost.

I like to drink about 2 pots before I practice to simulate the Buck Fever I know I'll have when the new world record steps out in front of me
I concur with that. Only problem I have with coffee is the fact that it doesn't like to stay in me very long and I don't squirt anywhere near my stand.
