Default Wonderful Opening Day

Man it feels good to be back in the woods. I was amped all day couldn't wait until I got off from work. Soon as I got home I headed right to the woods. I saw 3 medium sized does as I was making way to my stand. I would say this was a pretty good first day for me even though I didn't arrow anything I got to watch a nice "Shooter" 8pt horn several trees! He was about 50 yards out. I watched him for good 20 mins. Hoped he would came closer and offered a shot but he didn't. About 30 min later 2 large does came up almost exactly were I watched the 8pt walk off...the went the same way. I enjoyed the first day back...now its time to get my game face on...and wait for Mr. Big Horns!

Good way to open the season. I sence a concensus that we are all happy to just be back in the woods. there will be plenty of time to arrow a couple this season. Seeing them is a good start.

I think I would have to move my stand about 25 yards closer to that trail maby you will get the shot.

Its always great to see deer from your stand even if you cannot get off a shot. There is nothing as boring as sitting in a stand and not see anything. Besides at least you know that your stand is in a good spot

It is awesome just to see deer. It keeps you occupied, still, alert. Even if they don't come in the get the blood pumping. I'm with you on moving your stand. Go one better and leave your stand where it is and take your climber with you to set up closer. If any deer have noticed your original stand they may check it, if you're not there they'll walk around freely. Just a thought, maybe not a early season tactic.
