Not again, hurricane #3

I feel sorry for all you guys down there. I just don't think I could live in a coastal state where the constant threat of hurricanes and tornados in the late summer and fall dictate my lifestyle. I know Florida is a beautiful state but I'll take the hills and mountains here in WV anytime, especially during the fall hunting season. Hope everyone there fares well.

My prayers are certainly with you guys down there. From the sounds of it, it might be a tough one. My best friend lives in Naples and his folks live on Pine Island which is just south of where Charly hit. My buddy lives in a mobile home that endured Charly's 100mph winds at his place. I tried to talk him into getting out of there, but he won't leave his family or dog. Well, God Bless you all.

From the looks of things and the call I got this afternoon, I will be down that way the first of the week. Florida has requested some National Guard troops from our state to help with the cleanup and as it looks I will be on the crew ( actually driving a bus and transporting troops). I was told to be ready to roll from any time Sunday on, just as soon as the tail end cleared. Of course some of that depends if it decides to come on our way like Andrew did.

Some wonder if it is really worth living in Florida under the constant threat of hurricanes and tornados, not to mention Central Florida being the lightning capital of the world. The answer is simple, with hunting in Florida being what it is, how could i leave? Each year I get the chance to see 10-12 deer during my entire hunting season, including an opportunity to kill a trophy 8 point tipping the scales at a whopping 120lbs. So you see, I could never leave. lol

Well, here we go again. My practice shooting is really suffering. Ever try shooting a bow in hurricane force winds? lol
"Extremely dangerous." That's how the National Hurricane Center described Ivan. Evacuations of all tourists and mobile homes from the Florida Keys began Thursday, and residents are expected to start evacuating Friday as the Category 4 storm looms about 900 miles southeast of Miami. It's not expected to reach Florida until sometime Monday. It's the third evacuation order in Florida this hurricane season, the other two being for Hurricanes Charley and Frances.
Florida Gov. Jeb Bush said he's not sure a Hollywood producer could even write a more dramatic script than the one being written by Mother Nature.

I have an aunt and uncle in FL. All of you are in our prayers. I hope it all ends soon. All of FL could use a long break from the bad weather.
