I found them on some public land I was scouting. They were about 40 yards off the entrance to the property. 2 were just the heads w/ assorted bones laying around. They have been there a while, I wouldn't be surprised if they were from the gun season. The other was decomposed enough where I could see bones, but hasn't been there too long.
What would you guys do?

i woudl alert the local game warden, tell him that you are a bow hunter and you were out for a little scouting when you ran across them. hopefully he will be able to find out how they died and from what kinda weapon.. if it was riffle season those ass'es cant shoot DAM [:@]

I think the answer is obvious. I'd call the local co, or game warden or what ever they are called where you are. Poaching sucks[:'(]. Poaching for just a rack is even more despicable. With that said I don't differentiate between one type of poacher or another. Both are wrong but to waste an animal just for it's antlers sicken me.

They could be road kills. Alot of guys stop and pick up road kills for the horns. They pick up the body, cut the horns off and dump the body in a secluded spot. A deputy game warden out my way used to do this too. He would keep the roads clean of the carcasses and got a hell of a collection of racks for his effort. I don't know if he had permission for this, but he's dead now so it doesn't matter.

It sounds to me like these may not be poached animals, but possibly animals that after the season were dumped there because the hunters (I'll use that term loosely for now) either didn't want to, or didn't know how to properly butcher and dispose of the carcass. They probably thought to dump them somewhere that coyotes and crows would find them but not in a place where many humans would be offended.
However I would give your local warden a call and let him know what you found. If they were poached, it will leak out. Criminals are notorious for letting out their secrets.
