I was starting to feel like my shooting had declined a bit this year but then realized I've been shooting at 40 yards about 90% of the time. I do some shooting at 50. It really makes a difference, 30 yards now feels like 15 used to.

I try to shoot a few groups at 100 yards when ever I'm at the club. Shot some at 110 yesterday.
I guess you don't mind losing arrows??
Those of us who hit the target, don't loose arrows.

I was shooting out to 40 this summer. Now that I have switched sights and am gearing towards hunting, my practice will focus on shooting from a tree and varying the yardages from 5-30, with the majority around 15-20.

I practice out to 50 yards often and have gotten another pin to put in for 60 yards just for practice. The tighter the groups at greater distances the better your form is. A little movement at 50 with throw your arrow off more than at 20. It makes the closer shots a slam dunk, plus it is fun to challenge yourself.

I don't usually go past 40 yards. Most of the time I stay around 20 to 30 yards. However, I must admit that after going 40 yards out a 20 yard shot is money $$$. So I use it to refocus my perspective. When I feel like 20 yards is a distance I'll go out to 40 and get a decent group. Also, at 40 yards I like the delay from my bow to the target. It's just cool to me. Release.....Pop. ohhhhh another through tha' lungs. Besides at 40 yards or beyond there is more chance for non-human error to occur such as wind or lack of.

I pratice out to 40 yards but wouldn't shoot more than 30 yards at a deer. To 30 is my comfort zone.

I have a 30yd. pin and a 20yd. pin on my bow and thats the only 2 distances I shoot with my compound and with my recurve 30yds max and I walk all over under that just for practice at odd angles and distances and it helps with my range guessing
