The first shot Ted made was perfect. The heart on a elk is protected by the front shoulder. The penetration he got was typical of a bow shot elk, with his set up. You have to take into account he only shoots his bow @ 53-pounds. His arrows are 600-grains. He has a big slow set up. He is the one with the hunting show not me. I choose to shot a heavy arrow but I also have my bow set @ 72-pounds.

i guess that makes sense. ive never hunted elk.

You got me wrong, i'm not railing on ted, but i was alarmed at the shots. he has a choice to show or not show the footage. to the "not so expert" hunters like me, it looked like a bad hit. but he did get a second shot and recover it.
