livbucks, its funny when i read yoru post, it reminded me of when i tried that saddle out! my first year bow hunting i heard storys of guys falling out of trees and hurting themselvs. well needless to say me being 18 i jumped out of mine teh second i got the harness hooked up, just a "test run" if you will and man did THAT hurt.. amung the top 10 stupidest things i have ever done. well after puting that saddle thingie to the test i mentioned it to my buddy that it feels like i just jumped out of my stand and am still hanging here! thought you guys woudl like to hear that story... BTW i havent jumped out of a tree since then...

Looks like a waste of money to me. I think I'll stick to my Treestands and ground blinds. I can get at least 3 brand new treestands for the cost of one of those, you tell me, which is the better deal?

Is it me or do I just not get it.Why hang in a tree with the little seat shoved up my a$$ for a morning or evening hunt.All that work to climb up the tree to just "HANG" around.If you have to climb a tree which i prefere then why not sit on a comfy seat with your feet firmly on a solid platform.There you can hunt comfortably,and to me feel a little more secure.

When I got my first hangon stand I put it on a tree about 4 feet off the ground in my backyard, just to get familiar with putting it on the tree and to see how comfy and whatnot. Well, it turns out that they give you a free safety harness, so I put that on to get familiar. So after sitting in the stand and talking to my Dad, who was standing there, I decided it was time to get down. I forgot I had the harness on and figured it would be easiest to just jump down. I jumped and right before my feet hit the gound the slack drew tight and all you hear is a big moan from me getting the wind knocked out. To add insult to injury I then swung around the tree and bashed off it several times. If you ever fall out of your treestand, your harness will save you from serious injury but it will still hurt a plenty.
Trust me!

Good Lord... you bashed off the tree a couple times too? I'm sorry livbucks, but I just pictured that happening and just about fell out of my pc chair... laughing. Good thing I had my Kevlar helmet on and my ballistic shorts were tied off to the base of my chair. []

On a serious note... has anyone read the bowhunting article that spoke of death from what's called "Suspension trauma"? I read it recently in a bowhunting publication and was not aware of such dangers with harnesses. I formerly used a waist belt, which is not the best method by far, and have for the last 2 years climb with my harness on AND attached to the tree. The suspension trauma issue was new to me and I urge everyone who uses a harness to read about it. From what was printed, it could mean saving a life just knowing that sitting idle while suspended leads to pooling of the blood in the lower extremities and eventually death. It was first found when workers were suspended by a harness to inspect difficult areas of job sites, being lowered into an area for a short period of time, not actively moving and then passed out, lowered the BP to dangerous levels and then they expired! Informative article to say the least. I have the issue here somewhere and will look for it if anyone is interested.
