2 blade spitfire? |
RE: ???Best Mechanicals???
I've shot about 14 deer with mechanicals.I never lost a deer due to one but the performance was very inconsistant.I've killed a bunch with Wasp jackhammers and the results were usually devistating. However, twice had had nasty tracking jobs and both times I had broken blades.I killed a couple deer with Rocket sidewinders with good results.I killed three bucks with Rocket steelheads and broke blades all three times and the deer all went farther than usual.I think these would be good broadheads but the blades are dull and weak in my experience.I killed one deer with a two blade spitfire with good results.I've since stopped experimenting with mechanicals and started shooting Slick tricks two years ago. These broadheads penetrate very well, hold up excellent and seem to do more damage than they should.I think there's a place for mechanicals but I just feel better with a quality fixed blade.Ever since the dropaway's hit the market,I've had no problem getting perfect bh flight at speeds approaching 300 fps.I'm shootong 299 fps and can get Wasp bullets, muxxy 90 gr and slick tricks to all shoot at the same point of impact.I think tyhey're all good broadheads but I love those slick tricks.

I've looked all over and cant find any mention of NAP even making a 2 blade spitfire.

RE: ???Best Mechanicals???
i have NAP scorpions xp's and i havent killed nothin yet but they are accurate and have always opened on my targets.

RE: ???Best Mechanicals???
A target is a target and yes all mechanicals open on a target. However, an animal has flesh and YES, I too have used the Spitfires and had an instance last year that the head didn't open on Flesh.
Those of you that say it's impossible...When I gutted the deer (double lung shot) the markings on the lungs was about a .22 size shot hole with less than 1/8" from the blades sticking out from the top. I investigated the head and there was no blood, tissue, hair etc anywhere in the grooves the blades sitt in. FACT!!! |
RE: ???Best Mechanicals???
The Nap two blade spitfire was one of the first they made. they discontiued it and went with the three blade. So ya can't get them anymore.
The shockwave works as good or better than a spitefire for less money. the size of the blades hasn't got all that much to do with it anyway, the arrow placement has everything to do with it. I get really heavy blood trials when I get a good placement through the vitals and a low exit hole. doesn't really matter what broadhead I use. |
