ok i got it

Rules : you must harvest the deer legally as it is in your state .. must have a pic of your kill.. does DO NOT count as someone could jsut get a ton of doe permits and jsut run up the score like that ... Bucks are entered with scores ... teams of 4 to be drawn at random ... you may enter one Buck per person on a team ( total of 4 Deer per team may be entered) ... MUST BE ARCHERY KILLS ....scoring will consist of inside spread plus thickness 1 inch up from base , length of g2 point .. and half of body weight...

Everyone must be entered to pick teams by august 20th....

Anyone want to add any rules???? Lets try to get them finalized by Sunday Night August 1st.... feel free to give your inputs , i have minimal ideas for the scoring , but i know the turkey one went by wieght , beard length , and spur length... but be prompt so we can git R done by the 1st ...

All we need is a guy to draw teams , and to make a scoring calculator like the turkey boys did... anyone want either of these duties????

Thanks for all the interest in my idea , i jsut think it will be fun!!!

Why don't you guys round up Cardeer and see if he will throw in his $100 bill that he sets aside incase he doesn't get a deer?

DoubleLung that seems like a strange way of scoring to me. Why not just score the rack under P&Y rules and leave weight out of it. The way you have it weight has to much of the scoring. For instance, G2's total 20 inches , spread 20 inches, circumference 8 inches. That totals 48 inches. Half the weight may be 80. Also what if the G2 is broken off or very short but the G3 may be 12 inces long. That wouldn't be fair to someone. Total rack score seems more fair IMHO. Good luck to everyone.

Washington hunter that was my first idea , only let us harvest and enter one buck per season , but for the guys that can harvest more then one , they have to make a really tough decison , can they do better then the first one they shoot ??? that way if they shoot a dink and still have a tag left , they could just wait off and enter it later if they dont get something bigger , or enter a bigger one if they got one... then i begin to think that it might not be fair to soe of us that dont get a second chance at a buck , so i would say we should jsut get to take one buck....

as for rules , the deer jsut has to be killed with legal and ethical hunting practices in your state , we can get a scorign calculator page , made up like the turkey boys did so u jsut enter your specs and it gives you a score... must have a pic of the animal , if you cant post it im surer someone would gladly help you ... then have a set score for doe , or jsut use their wieght divided by 2 or somethin like that , its all archery kills , and have teams of 3-5 people , and if we dont play for money , the winner will jsut get the title of archery domanance on the board , til next season .. or if someone wanted to be our TREASURER type offical lol we could all pitch in like a few dollars nd at the end , the winning team can split it , or jsut someone buy a few lil plaques or trophies...
I'm in. But the one buck rule for this contest will help the little bucks in the field!! Kinda like our one buck rule does here in KY!!

The body weight rule is to keep the Texas guys from winning! Most people are not going to get or be abe to score their 6 point themselves. If there is a better way to come about scores I'm game, but I definitely think weight should be involved.

I will do the record keeping. I don't mind it will keep me out of the bars at night.

Weight, I have an issue with that. Down south the deer don't get that big. They definitely don't get as heavy because they don't need a lot of fat to survive the winter.

I think P&Y Rules for scoring should be the bench mark. It has been used for all these years just fine.

I was also planning on making the teams by pulling names out of the hat but if someone else wants to, please do.

i would gladly pick teams out of a hat and email everyone with the contact information of their team. but i live in south georgia so all ya'll norther guys have a little bit of an advantage when it comes to weight of the deer! they only get so big down here, so either scrapping weight or giving a handicap would be greatly appriciated! if yall want me to put teams together, email me at [email protected]. i could also put them together based on how many hours people expect to be hunting this year so the wood hours are somewhat even.
