Since everyone else is giving solutions that may be outlandish... I say you build a potato gun out of pvc pipe and a gass grill. Aim it up and blow tha nest up. Shouldnt hurt your stand if it's made of metal. And it would be a hell of a lot of fun. Some friends and I used to make these in college. Tons of fun.

I just made one yesterday. I forgot how much fun they are. If want to get an idea of how-to just type Spud Gun or Spud Cannon into yahoo and all sorts of stuff will pop up. To check out some really outlandish spud guns go to www.spudtech.com its the spud gun Technology Center.

What I would do is put a little kero on a cloth. Attach the cloth to the end of a long stick. Light up the cloth, move it under the hive. The idea is not to burn out the whole hive since it is under your stand. The heat, smoke, and fire should be enough to drop the hive. Also, bring water in case the fire spreads too far and hornet spay, when the bees hit the ground. Your stand may get a little blackend, but it you don't light up the entire hive, it should be ok.

One time we had a hornet nest surround a bird house. So I took an old arrow, attached a cloth, soaked it in kero, lite it and shot it into the brird house. The fire than went out when it hit the bird house. I let the bees calm down, attached a coth to a branch, kero, and lit the branch. Placed it under the arrow to re-light the cloth. The entire hive went up and it was neat seeing fire in the middle of the tree. Eventuallty everything fell down and we killed the remaining bees on the ground. Put out the fire on the tree. Hive is gone.

Take a large garbage bag and rig it up so that the top closes like a snair. Climb the tree late at night when the bees are sleeping. Slip the bag around the hive and sinch it up. Sinch it very tight and then add a couple of zip ties to keep it closed. Drop the bag out of the tree and climb down.

Getting rid of the bag is now the issue. If you wish to kill them leave the bag in the hot sun for an afternoon. I'm not sure what to do it you want to let them go. I'll leave that up to you;)

Potatoe guns are prety simple to make. Kodiak 41226 that's a great web-sight. If anyone makes one though remember. Even though your shooting a veggie it's still lethal and by law considered a firearm.

shoot the ones not attached to your stand with a shotgun, i'd say 8 shot, until there's nothing left. spray the one attached to your stand with hornet spray and knock it down with a stick and run like heck ...better get to it seasons almost here.

I'd just leave it alone. Chances are they will be long gone by the time you start hunting. Even if you have to wait an extra week for the cold weather to drive them away. They do more good than harm.

Some people will collect wasps and honerts at no fee. They sell the venom to labs. I just let them bee!

Is this a great way to protect your stand from theft or what!

My vote is the paint ball gun. That seems like stupid fun stuff to do. I miss growing up and pestering bee hives. I didn't care if they where in the groung, bush or tree. Come to think of it we used rocks, sticks, hoses and anything else we could think of, but we didn't have paint ball guns.[:@]

i think the paintball gun is the safest and easiest way to take care of the nest. id turn the velocity dang near all the way up and just unload on it. it would be fun too. where you located i got plenty of c02 and paintballs.:D:D:D
