I was just wondering how many of you guys are speed freaks. My brother will not hunt with a bow that shoots under 290 fps. He can't understand why it doesn't bother me that my Legacy only shoots 275-278 fps. Are any of you'all that freaky about arrow speed?

Need for speed? Naaaaaa..... [:-]
I just keep on keepin' on with my old PSE EDGE series 1000C bow at a meager 250 +/- fps. Hey, it is laser accurate, and that's what really matters to me.

The only reason I concern myself with speed is because I need to what speed I'm shooting to calculate my Ke. Don't get me wrong, I want to shoot in excess of 250fps but anything more than that is gravy. My main concern is keeping my ke up around 70.

I'd rather hunt with a glass laminated, reflex/deflex longbow and 575 gn arrow at 180 fps rather than a selfbow that shoots the same arrow at 150 fps.
There! I admit it. I'm a speed freek

I was going nuts with the speed thing until I started to realize that the poundage was killing me. I backed the bow off and am much happier. I am getting the gold tip hunter pro 398 gr up to 265 right now. That is plenty for me. Yes I would like faster but I don't want to be over bowed any more.

Count me in with the speed idiots--at least for a 3D setup. For hunting it's pretty much a non-issue IMO. I shot deer back in the 70's when a fast bow was shooting near 200fps. Today my bows get around 290fps for 3D, but I usually slow it down to 270fps and get it deadly quiet. 200fps or 270fps---no deer knows the difference.

I admit that I am a bit that way, but only because I am amazed by it. It blows my mind that I can get an arrow going that fast, and when I hit the 290 mark, I said to myself, "what would 300 be like?" Then, what would 310 be like...it's more like something to experiment with. I also slow mine down to the upper 270's for hunting tho.

] . Cant stand the draw cycle of a black knite , or a martin nitrous cam , they kill me . I dont like shooting real lite arrows either , around 400 seems good for me , at 60 lbs , cant see myself shooting a 300 grain arrow .
