Default How much extra?

After reading the 1/4" post, I gotta ask. How much past the rest prongs do you folks have your arrows cut? Is 3/8 to 1/2" enough? I'm about to order some more arrows and want to know your opinions.

I've always heard it said that you should have no less than 1" extra arrow after the prongs of your rest.

Last year I cut my arrows down until they were about a 1/4" in front of the prongs. I probably wouldn't go any tighter than that. This year with a new bow I can cut my arrows down a bit again, I wll probably stay 3/8" to a 1/2" from the rest like you are proposing.

long enough to stay on the rest is all that really matters. Some of these target pukes may yak and hak about an inch of arrow, but it really makes no difference in hunting situations.
