I'm using the Predator IV this year. While it requires a bit more adjustment than other pendulums it really is an accurate sight once setup. Personally I think I would have prefered the Keller but until they make a fiber optic site available I'll stick with the Predator. And that is what the pendulum does, it's an automatic range finder. I know some will say that with todays bows you only need one pin, but for me hunting the thick stuff where the angles are steep, I need pinpoint accuracy and there is the occassional longer shot, I really require more accuracy than what is given me with one pin. The pendulum does that for me.

Im in the same boat your in Sharkey...Ive researched and researched and I just cant decide whether to go with fixed or pendelum. This season will be 100% tree stand hunting so im leaning more heavy on the pendelum side. I just wanted to make sure they werent hype and it seems many like them.

I think most of all the older old school hunters hate anything that can or is supposed to make hunting easier [:-]

I am a huge fan of pendulums. I have an old keller currently, I will probably pick up one of the newer fiber optic models out there now. The thing that I fall back to with a pend. is the tight in 5 yd shot. Most fixed pin users need to adjust when aiming, I don't like having to adjust, with the pend, the pin is there and you shoot.

I wouldnt touch one of those with a ten foot pole. too many moving parts. too many things that could go wrong. they're only for lazy asses who dont want to bend at the waist with proper form

That's one of the stupidest comments that I have heard made on these forums. Slayer you think your way is the only way to do anything. You act like you are some kind of archery expert whose knowledge is above that of everyone else, yet I have yet to hear you say anything intelligent about archery or anything else for that matter. Why don't you grow up and explain you case instead of throwing childish insults. I have used Pendulums in the past and I am seriously considering going to one now. The main reason that I like a pendulum is becasue some of the funnels that I hunt in the bottoms, when the bucks come through and they are chasing, they are moving so quick if you do get one stopped it's only for a couple of seconds so I don't want to have to worry about judging exact yardage or whether he is standing next to X bush or which pin to use. I just want to be able to draw and shoot as quickly as possible. My dad use to tell me "if you don't have anything intelligent to say then don't say anything at all"...............you may want to take his advice.

PS I wish you wouldn't tell the thirty someodd deer that I have killed with pendulums that they are junk. Apparently they didn't know that and they didn't know that you were the king of archery and I would hate to dissapoint them on either count[:-]

How good are they if you need to take a shot on the ground--like on the way to and from your stand? Are they still accurate on the ground also?

Yes they are accurate on the ground, how far out depends on how fast your bow is. Mine was good to almost 25 yds on the ground.

I use to shoot tournaments in the bowhunter class with mine. I wasn't shooting for points as such since the pin moved I would have to shoot in the open class so I just shot for practice but the pendulum that I shot did great on the ground or in the tree.

I don't mean to insult anyone but there is no need for a pendulem unless you shoot a very slow bow by todays standards.I've used several pendulems on and off over the years and none of then ever got me past about 32 yards.Like was said earlier,if you bend at the waist, you will not hit high.I've shot over 285 fps for several years now and one pin is good to at least 30 yards if I sight the bow in for around 25 yards.I'm now shooting 299 fps and I'm within two inches of where I'm aiming from point blank range out to 32 yards. It's the same at ground level as it is in a tree.If your point of impact is different from a tree than it is from the ground, your form needs work.

Good answer doug! But the only thing is a lot of folks shoot slower bows and often hunt from a tree maby 20-25 ft up? i have shot pedulum sights for a long time and with good success. But for the first time in about 15 yrs. i will be shooting a copper johns pin sight! In which i seem to like alot, I also will be shooting a bowtech justice which is not a speed burner by no means[&:] but i think i still will be able to shoot pins fairly well even from a tree as long as i bend at the wast! But for the slower bows a lot of "experienced hunters" will not take a shot over 20-30 yrds in a hunting situation. A pedulum sight could be a simple sight that could help durring the heat of the momment! I think sometimes its something you just get used to using something that works! So if your happy with it shoot it! But if your not change!

I never used a pendulum sight. I cant really respond about pendulums. But can say that I only hunt from treestands, and never had a problem with my fixed sights, I never heard of bending at the waist either. I just shoot however possible. Never seem to have any problem with accuracy. I only also shoot one pin that is good from 10-30yds, an inch high at 20, dead on at 25 and an inch low at 30. I have no need for a pendulum.
