putting stands up

If you have scouted out a few spots and feel confident in the area then i would hang it now,or the sooner the better.Do some rough pruning of branches to open up some shooting lanes and not have to worry about it till season starts.
Like wes said,if there are alot of theives around your area or on public land then its a whole different story. That is when you would hang it a week before opener. But you can still have the area ready well in advance.

I agree with puting up the stands now and doing any pruning. If the stands will be on public land ,take a stand in and see if there will be a need for pruning ,do it now .Maybe even find extra spots for changing wind .Everything can look different from stand hieght.

i dont hang stands, too expensive if someone steals them, i just scout trees i plan on hunting and tie a ribbon up, do some prunning and mark some yardages around this time. Good luck

anytime from now to the week before seeason and you'll be fine. prune the stumps of the saplings you cut down with TORDON RTU from Dow Agrisciences. they'll never sprout back. dont do this to limbs, as you may kill the tree, even a big tree can be seriously injured from it. the stuff is that potent.

if you are hunting private land, put the stand up now and do the necessary trimming. but remember, dont over trim the area so that it is completely unnatural. it doesnt really matter when you put it up as long as you work as fast as possible and only do it once [get in then get out and do everything right the first time.] i usually start about 9 or 10 so it isnt hot yet.
