Deer 1, 30-06 double lung, 40 yrds.
Deer 2, 30-06 double lung tight to the shoulder, 0 yrds.
Deer 3, bow, 80ish yrds, poor shot could have been worse but we gave her time and zero pressure.
Deer 4, bow, yearling thru shoulder, thru center of heart, crash, 20 yrds.
Deer 5, bow, the yearlings mom just as soon as i could nock another arrow, clipped all the arteries right at the top of the heart, she made about 90ish yrds.
Deer 6, bow, quartering away, drove right up thru center of heart, 50-60 yrds.
I'm showin an average of 47.5 yrds for all 6 and about 61.25 yrds for the bow kills only.

Average distance my deer travel after the shot.
1. 20-70 yards after the shot
2. 1 mile on back of 4 wheeler
3. 20 miles back into town
4.3 more miles to the processor
5. Grand total would be about 24 miles and 40 yards on average give or take a few feet either way.

Average is about 40 yards. Like others I've made a few marginal hits and had to track them a long ways. Last year I made a liver shot on a nice doe. Thought I'd let her stay overnight.
Coyotes didn't leave much, a little fur, a leg bone, and the tail. Should have given her a couple hours and then trailed her. Still not too old to learn a lesson or two.

From close to surprisingly further. I have never considered what the average distance was. I have had a few that died within 40-50 yards, but ended up 80 to 90 feet further.....when rolling off a high ridge.
