ORIGINAL: Krotalus

I dont leave the ground without it attached to the tree.

it takes me a bit longer while climbing but is worth the peace of mind. The climbing portion is the most dangerous part and the best chance for problems.

I always wear a safety belt , I don't wear anything when climbing though.
I raise the tree strap up enough that when i sit down there is just a little tension. Gives me a lot more confidence when I can feel that tightness in the strap. Plus it helps me feel relaxed when I'm sleeping. (resting my eyes).

Don't wear them and probably never will. I tried again a couple years ago and can't stand the things. Go ahead and give me heck about it cause you're all probably right. Haven't come close to having an accident in 16 years (knock on wood). Except once when 2/3 of my ladderstand came apart and me and the seat portion were cabled to the tree 18 feet high. But even then a harness wouldn't have mattered. So I'll just keep on keeping on.[:-]

I just bought the HSS vest as well. I went out and shot with it on and the buckles don't get in the way. The leg strap buckles are like car seat buckles. Very easy, no tangles, no mess!

When i was 18 i fell 18 feet out of my tree stand. Broke my left knee and ankle. Had to hobble 1/2 mile back to my truck and drive myself to the hospital. After 3 surgeries and a week in hospital i got to go home. I have used a safety harness ever since. I will never go up a tree without one again.
