RE: So I got to work and the world crumbles
I saw the thread briefly before it got axed and I could see the handwriting on the wall within the first few replies............wasn't gonna end pretty [:'(]
I personally love seeing pics of how equipment did on game. I take detailed shots myself most times.......even with my slug gun........you'd be surprised at the differences you see if you look closely. I think all that info is important and interesting. My field dressing time is part autopsy ;) Having said all that I really just didn't see the point in taking the shot..........I don't see what info could be obtained that is of any value. All that could come out of it is "Hypershocks blow through bone" which as we can see was true coming out of Len's setup. Since the power of Len's setup puts him in a huge minority of average hunters this info is then not only useless but also could be harmful. The day some goofball straps on a hypershock and doesn't care where he is aiming because he heard or saw them destroy a shoulder is where you will get the wounded deer...........not from Len. If you can hit the shoulder you can hit the chest so any shoulder shots should be immediately followed by an "oops" from the hunters mouth. I would rather read Len+David's thread 100 times rather then the "Can't figure out what happened" threads we see every fall.......no practice, 2" mechs out of low power setups, dull heads, stupid shots, poor tracking. Give me a shattered shoulder and a dead doe any day over that garbage [:'(] Pretty tough crowd when a resume like Len's doesn't even get you the benefit of the doubt with the ethics police.............can you imagine if a new member or someone they hardly know had posted that thread [:o]:( |
RE: So I got to work and the world crumbles
I wonder what everyone would be saying if the shot had not turned out lethal??

It would have been under the thread "can't figure out what happened" so nobody would care then: Hipocrasy?

RE: So I got to work and the world crumbles
How many of you, disgusted with the damage picture, have ever made a bad shot on a deer. Gun or Archery they happen. I spined a buck with a horrible shot. I was on the ground and he came walking by uphill from me. I leaned out from behind the tree judged the distance and shot. Arrow went almost completely through the spine and had just fletchings showing. I grossly missguessed the yardage and shot way to high. I am sure someone could say "you did not practice enough on guessing yardage, you should know yardage not guess", "You should have been in a treestand with more ability to shoot at the proper humane angles to kill a deer." Bottom line is every hunter in the world has made a mistake I don't care who you are. Get over it move on.
It seems we have, on this BB, way to much holier than thou attitude. We are such stone throwers when we see even the slightest hint someone used bad judgement we pounce on him and have our way. We smell blood in the water and start the frenzy. Is it because the members here are too dumb to realize when they made a mistake and the smarter ones among us need to rudely tell them. I often wonder why the hunting crowd in general can get a bad reputation as "rednecks who just drink beer and shoot whatever runs in from their spotlight." I do not disagree with the redneck part and I am proud of that, but the ability to make decisions is in us all. When someone makes a mistake do not abuse them about it. You all are not as good as you act! |
RE: So I got to work and the world crumbles
ORIGINAL: Tomster I did not take the shot, he did. I would not have aimed for the shoulder, he did, the deer died, end of story. How many deer have you wounded while hunting? Did you ever make a bad shot? Are you human and make mistakes? Do you practice every chance you can to make the best shot possible? You know the answers, hopefully he now does. |
