I have a real problem with heights. last year was my first in a treestand, i was able to get up to about 10-12 feet. this year with more practice i am shooting for 15 feet consistently and hopefully start pushing 20 feet.

I usually like to be in the 20 foot range ,depending on the location of my stand .If I'm deep in the wood's then I'm usually lower but if I'm near the edge of the field then I'll go higher .

It all depends on the foliage. I prefer around 25 feet, but the surrounding foliage and ability to get a clear shot dictates my height. I've taken deer anywhere from 25' up to 8' up in a tree. Funny, but I've taken many deer from ground level too, including my 2 best bucks.

the higher the better ill go as high as the tree will allow and i usually look for tallest trees on the property but on average id say 30+ feet but most of the trees here that are that tall are thin pinetrees and when you get that high you start to sway with the wind
