My dad found a 5 point shed on our property. He will be huge. Do you have any tips for bow hunting that you would like to share? I used to not care about a buck or doe but now I want that buck. Dang I'm so happy. Huge I tell ya HUGE.
Fieldmouse are you ready for that pic that scores over 130? It will be coming.

I have found that you get two to three weeks on average to see the big boy. That is beginning of November to end of November. Not that you can't find a spot the will not fit the norm such as my honey hole. I won't shoot until after November on something that I won't mount. Mounting is subjected but gets set by the deer you see on other peoples walls or photos. We have been treated to some dandies on this sight and some are bigger then others. Be patient and let things walk no matter how bad it hurts. Fact is if you do, next time you can say I've let something bigger walk. You'll know when you see the deer to mount. Let what you know be the guide. I will let everything walk until November. If a huge deer walks in front before hand, I'll take the shot (it's does have to be bigger then you friends though). After November, shoot what you want and have fun. If you found the good spots before November, they will be there in December.
Good luck!

Hey Zak, keep an eye on the area where you found that shed. There's a good chance that where you found it is his core area. If you can set up an observation post from far away and just glass it with a spotting scope or binoculars just so you can pin him down. If you can't, then set up a trail cam in that area, but stay out of the thickets, because thats where he will be hanging around. It doesn't take much to push him out of the area. When its time to hunt him, only hunt stands that have good wind direction because once he winds you its game over. Mature bucks don't really tolerate human scent(talking from experience). I learned that the hard way, besides he didn't get that big from being dumb. GOOD LUCK!

This is a little confusing to me. Why won't you shoot anything before November?

There is also the second rut that will re-establish itself for all the un-pregnant Does but it is no where as strong. It will happen mid December and there is no cerntainty of the big one showing, so shoot what you want.

So I should really hunt in Novermber and not kill anything in October? Does anyone know the when the rut begins in southern Mississippi?

If you go early season hunt, define what your kill is. If you want meat hunt areas that get high preasure from guns during the rut. Lets face it, your not bringing a bow to a gun fight in high preasure areas when it's gun season. If you hunt your favorites and it will last through gun, don't kill anything unless it beats your freinds before the rut. Any protected property will bennifit from gun hunters next door. Just make sure when the rut comes you can predict where your Does will be. There is know thing like home brew "Doe in Heat".

The problem is it is on a 25 acre piece of land. If I see him should I pass until November? The reason I should pass is incase there is a bigger buck in the area the 10 point will attract him. Is this what your saying.
