opening morning of hunting, its raining and i dont seen one deer all day when this nice 8 pointer walks in about 40 yards away. i get my gun up and fire once, it starts to run, and i know i missed so i fire off 2 pot shots. I missed every shot. i dont know why i missed, i was the best shot out of my hole family when we went out to practice. Then the last friday of hunting i go out into the swamp which hasnt been hunted all year. I walk into the woods and scare away some turkeys, so i thought that might have ruined my chances of seeing a deer. but i sit down anyways and wait. just as the sun is starting to get up a deer walks in followed by even more. all does, so i was picking out the biggest of them when i see this really big deer, it walked out and i saw its horns. i could tell it was QDM so i was waiting for it to turn broad side. it walked straight in and then stopped facing me. looked right at me so i knew i had to shoot. i shot, it jumped up turned and ran about 30-40 yards and dropped. i walked up to it and it turned out to be the biggest buck taken from our land in a long time. 10 pointer with a 18 inch spread.

My question is do u think that is luck or just really great thought and timing?

Welcome aboard jakeschmid.Personally i think the timing was good with about 95% of it just being luck

Heck of a buck congrats, but there is a reason you hunted where you hunted right, I 'm not talking about the woods as a whole, I'm talking about where your stand was. Luck plays a big part but knowing where they are and where there going is even bigger.
