RE: What shaft material do you hunt with?
I use Gold Tip 3D pro's in 3555's The guy who own's the shop uses them for hunting moose on down to Turkey's. I wasn't sure whether 3555 would be enough spline, but I'm going to try them and see for myself.I'll sure be ticked if that moose walk's away looking at me .
Some of you's have told me that this shaft is too light for moose, but I sure hope your wrong . nubo |

RE: What shaft material do you hunt with?
Interesting results so far and I cannot say that the results surprise me considering the demographic representation of the folks that visit these forums.

RE: What shaft material do you hunt with?
It depends on what I'm hunting. I shoot Gold Tips for turkey and antelope and Beman Matrix for deer and anything larger.

RE: What shaft material do you currently hunt with?
I have hunted with carbons the last 8-10 years.
I started hunting with aluminum arrows, and hunted with them for about 5 years. Then went to the skinny bemans with outserts, and switched to Beman ICS. But, this year I have purchased aluminums and am thinking strongly of hunting with them again this year. Camo |
RE: What shaft material do you currently hunt with?
Used to hunt carbons from Beman. Now I am back to xx75 aluminum in 2315 at 30 inches. It packs a whallop. I had trouble patterning with the carbon. Could have been me though.

RE: What shaft material do you currently hunt with?
I have hunted with both carbon and aluminum in the past but I have to vote for the heavy 2219 aluminum's that I currently use! Great for elk!

RE: What shaft material do you currently hunt with?
Pultruded carbons for me. The ones that started it all are still the best.
|
RE: What shaft material do you currently hunt with?
I hunted with wood arrows the first 25 years in the woods. Shot aluminum for the past 20 years.
Never did find an all-carbon arrow straight and consistent enough, or long enough in many cases, for me to shoot broadheads very well. So, I never hunted with carbon. I had a blast of nostalgia a few months ago and got a hankering to shoot wood again. I've got cedars in my quiver as we speak.:) |
RE: What shaft material do you currently hunt with?
Wow, I can't believe how few of us still use aluminums!!
I can't even imagine shooting anything but alum. |
RE: What shaft material do you currently hunt with?
I shoot aluminums exclusively.

RE: What shaft material do you currently hunt with?
I hunt Turkeys with Aluminum and Whitetail and Antelope with Carbons. I love to shoot and have a carboard press that I shoot a lot. I shoot aluminums into it because you can't pull carbons out. I get the cardboard free so that's why I use it the most. I also have a bag target but if I shoot a couple arrows at the same target I get a pass through.[:@] When they pass through they blow a hole and a bunch of the stuffing out the other side.[:o] Someday I may go back to aluminums altogether but not for this coming season. I use Carbon Express Terminator Hunter Selects and weight almost the same as aluminums anyway.

RE: What shaft material do you currently hunt with?

RE: What shaft material do you currently hunt with?
I use Aluminum XX78 2314's for hunting. For 3D I use 3-49 ACC's
or Goldtip 55-75's. |
RE: What shaft material do you currently hunt with?
Last year I tried pse carbon force arrows before and i picked up alot of speed with them but couldnt quite place nice patterns....so now i switched back and I'm using Easton 2117--xx78 super slam aluminum arrows.....in my opinion aluminum arrows are more accurate and have more take down power;)

RE: What shaft material do you currently hunt with?
I started hunting with XX75 2216's then switched to carbon for one year. Now its the XX78 2216's for target and hunting.
Why do most people shoot carbon arrows today? What are the pro's and con's? |
RE: What shaft material do you currently hunt with?

RE: What shaft material do you currently hunt with?
Carbon- Easton Axis 340's
|
RE: What shaft material do you currently hunt with?
I am still trying carbons and so far Iam not too crazy about them. I have been shooting Easton C2 Realtree camo 340's. They are ok but I have some wild flyers in the group. I am amazed that out of a dozen, 8 group together and the others go where they want to go. I'll probably stick with my XX78 2314's and XX78 2117's. I shot a robin hood the other day with the 2117's.

RE: What shaft material do you currently hunt with?
Just switched to A/C/C's, from Carbon's. I was just dissappointed with the Carbon's, for whatever reason, I'd always have a couple out of a dozen that wouldn't fly right. Maybe the spine was a little different, or maybe they didn't weigh the same. I bought the A/C/C's to straighten this problem out and they have so far, I'll be paper tuning them this weekend, but from what I've seen out of them so far I'm very pleased.

RE: What shaft material do you currently hunt with?
I've been using carbons for 8 years. Well, actually I've been using the same two dozen arrows for 8 years. I bought bemans and have not had to buy any since. I shoot deer with them, wipe them off and put them back in my quiver. I only have two sight pins out to 30 yards. They (carbons) are amazing! I could never imagine shooting those treetrunks(aluminums) again. I do have to refletch my target arrows about every two years though. Every deer that my dad and I have shot was a complete pass through with the carbons. With the aluminum we missed completely alot.

RE: What shaft material do you currently hunt with?
I am new to bowhunting this year. I have had my bow for several years, but never hunted with it. I have been target practicing with Easton xx75 2219 since I bought it. I will hunt with them too. My brother in law says carbon is the only way to go, I disagree.
I got a new sight last weekend and was sighting it in. Missed the targer on the first arrow. Hit my backstop, 3/4" ply wood. Sunk that arrow 5 inches through the other side. This was at 20 yards.:D |
RE: What shaft material do you currently hunt with?
Hmmm..."take-down power"? What in fact do you mean? Arrows kill by hemorrhaging...not by shock. But, if you are meaning Kinetic Energy (KE) that would all be determined by your setup. However, in most cases you will have more KE with a carbon than a similarly spined aluminum...better penetration through bone...flatter trajectory...and so on and so on. But if you like aluminums and feel more comfortable with them...then stick with 'em. But be open still to try the newer carbons. Properly set up you should enjoy them.
