Techy ! that's great shooting in my book's ,can't say that I'd even try a shot at a squirrel at that range or even any other range but good for you ,Arrow's cost too much if you miss. I'd take the 80yrd shot's since I shoot 70yrds now on occasion,at a decent size target.

Perhaps I may have jumped to conclusions[&:]. If I did, I am truely sorry.[&o] I always was under the impression that Fox and Red were one in the same type of squirrel. I do believe in the state of WI., landowners may hunt certain types of small game year round.
Again, if I am mistaken, or that is the case, I am sorry.

Congrats on the fine shooting! Here in Wisconsin, landowners and their immediate famalies can shoot rabbits, coon, squirrels( i dont know about reds, we dont have any of those in the corner of the state). Skunks are open all year round now with teh DNR's orders to kill all in sight, as they carry rabies most times. congrats again!

Maybe I just wasn't looking in the right area, because I couldn't find much on non-game animals (gophers, rats, etc.) on that Michigan GF&P site except for one little blurb on this page: check the bottom of the page where it lists red squirrel, along with skunk, as "unprotected."
