Default Are You a REAL Bowhunter or a TV Star??

So here's my problem with the TV stars. Everytime they stick, blast, drop an animal in it's tracks... they have to walk(sneak) up with the camera rolling(only we know it's the 4th or 5th take) and poke it in the eye with their rifle barrel or bow cam. Sometimes they even get dangerous and poke it with an arrow.

It was all started about 6 or 7 years ago by Jackie Bushwhacker and now they all have to do it. Now I know these boys have shot just as many or more animals than I have. IF after trailing for 50-200 yards and arriving 30-120 minutes after you shot you can't tell the animal is dead.... you need to shoot it again. Joking of course because... WE ALL KNOW IT'S DEAD.

But, just in case it's not... do real hunters gently probe or do you do what I do and give it a swift kick in the butt or back or head or whatever part is near you. Really if in doubt we all probably just whack it again. I'm just waiting for someone to gently nudge a whitetail someday with an arrow, held palm up, and have the deer blow out of his bed, flip the arrow and watch it stick in the guy. I'm really tired of watching the same view of this happening with the guy approaching from one directions, the camera from the other and the "OH, there he is".... tap tap.... "He's down"!!!

So are you a TV star or a kick 'em in the butt.

Know of a whitetail doe, shot squarely in the lungs on a drive. SHe dropped in about 40 yards. My ole man and myself went over to check out my uncles doe and as he was stepping over her to start field dressing, she hauled butt! She didnt get far before the ole mans 06 reported. One thing he always taught my bros and I was to pokem in the eye, if they are alive, they will blink! Ever since then I have always done it, even if I KNEW they were dead LOL! Now just imagine, 10ft brownie, "dead" LMAO! Oh wait, was that a wink

I cant stand to watch Jackie. If I hear him say He's down ,one more time I'm going to throw the TV out the window. I usally just watch for lung movement to determan if a finsh-up shot is needed hasnt let me down yet. I have yet to see something not breathing get up and run on me.
P.S.jackie is the biggest turnoff to me other then the price to owning a tree lounge.

Lil Hunter... a swift kick in the butt will tell you the same thing. So will looking at the eye, looking at the rib cage etc etc. Poking them in the eye is a new celebrity thang.

I ALWAYS KICKED THEM LIKE YOU DAVID. I KNEW A GUY WHO DIDN'T AND ENDED UP LOOSING HIS KNIFE, HE SHOT THIS DEER AND WENT UP AND SLIT ITS THROAT AND THE DEER GOT UP AND TOOK OFF RUNNING WITH THE KNIFE STILL STUCK IN ITS THROAT, THE KID FOUND THE DEER BUT NOT HIS KNIFE.

My bosses brother-in-law is a camera man for mossy oak. He told us that most of the time, the trailing you see on T.V. is done the next day after the deer has been killed. They all get down and find the deer, film him (poking the eye and all) and then go home. The next day they go out put the guy in the stand at exactly the same time, get the shots of him standing up to shoot, get the audio of the hunter narrating the events unfolding and then tape the rehearsed reaction to the kill. After that they get down and film the trailing. He says there is alot of show buisiness behind the scenes.

You know I'm not a TV star...

No fancy car...
No fancy house...
No fancy woman waiting for me to come home...
No fancy hunting clothes...
No fancy sponsors...
No fancy job...
No fancy hair cut... [aint that the truth!]

I dunno... I always approach from the rear and touch the eye. Been doing it that way since I started hunting.

Just think... I could have been getting paid all these years... just like Jackie Bushwhacker.

I think I'm both. I poke it with my bow cam then kick it if it made me walk more than 30 yards.

Along the same lines, have any of you heard the 911 tape of the guy who hit a deer with his car, thought it was dead, stuff it into his back seat to take home? Needles to say the deer wasn't dead and the tape is pee your pants funny!

dunno Dave, my ole man taught me it 11 years ago now....dunno how long this celeb thing has been going on for. You can kickem in the arse I guess but what do you think a live wounded bear's gonna do when ya give him a good swift one with a extra wide #9 boot LOL! You can lookem in the rib cage also...then again you can just shootem again. What ever works, I'll keep poken them in the eyes! I aint much for kickn them though, espically in the eyes of another hunter....it just doesnt seem right, what ever floats your boat though I guess !
