Default Hunting Vanes

I am in the market for some new vanes. I like the 4" Duravanes. I am going to use them for hunting. My question: Should I get fletching that helps me blend in or can I use any color? So far I like two green and one white but should I go all green? Does it even matter?

I'm pretty sure I saw a post on this but I can't find it. Does anyone know what it is called? Thanks

Personally I pick colors I can see well. That means Chartreuse or white. Assuming you are treestand hunting, Take a look up through the trees from ground level and what do you see? It ain't all camo and green up there. That's why most commonly popular camo's are really wrthless for treestand hunting. You still look like some big black blob sitting in a tree.

If you're hunting deer or elk or any other big game, I would say bright colors. I prefer 2 Yellow 1 White because I can see them well flying through the trees to my target.

If you're hunting turkey, I would say colors that are going to blend in well. What good is it to spend $200+ on camo only to be busted by $2.00 worth of bright colored vanes?

I used to hunt with camo vanes until I made a shot at dusk one evening that I had no idea where I had hit the deer. I got down too early because I thought I had missed it. The bright fletchings show up much better against the dark body of the deer. I like white arrow wraps with 2 white and either one orange, yellow or green vane. I also switched ouyt my nocks to white ones. With the bright fletchings though, I like to take my quiver off in the stand so as not to be waving 5 white arrows around in the air.

I use two neon yellow and one hot pink. These colors are easy to see and also the blood shows up on them well even after it has dried.

This is one of those topics that nobody is ever going to entirely agree on. Personally, I find myself drifting more towards the "blending in" camp than the bright color group but I try to find a happy medium. Black and orange or black and yellow are what I have come find is a good combination for my area.

Good question, I use barred yellow feathers and the yellow and black blend in well during the fall archery season. I have used barred red with success,I like both colors for hunting.
