Default New no-peep...

I put a no-peep on my bow a couple weeks ago....I've shot it four or five times. The second time I shot with it, I had a 2" group..which is outstanding for me!! Haven't had a repeat performance...seems like my first group of the day is tighter than the rest, but the best way to describe my shooting is....inconsistent....sloppy..embarassing!!! I'm not sure if I'm just not used to shooting (just picked the bow up the week before putting the no-peep on(since Jan.))....or is I just suck!! Rationalizing....I would still kill from 20yds...but I can't shoot like this around my friends. I figure, I'll go for a month or so...and if I don't get better.........I'll bring back the peep. Anybody had this experience with the no-peep??? Thanks for any advice...

make sure that the no-peep hasnt moved any at all. the slightest movement will throw your groups off. I took a pencil and marked every area that had the potential to move. Hope this helps.

I took off my peep sight about a year and 1/2 ago. When I first installed it I shot 2" groups. During the following weeks I shot somewhat inconsistently. I realized that I needed to fine tune the adjustments, because I was trying to anchor "to" the no-peep instead of anchoring and adjusting the no-peep to me...if that makes any sense?
It is far easier to make adjustments with the help of someone else while you hold the bow.
What I did was to draw my bow and get into my comfortable anchor, with my eyes closed! Then open your eyes and check the no-peep. This is the only way I know how to accurately adjust the dern thing, but it works great after you make the adjustments this way. Repeat the process several times to be sure that you are anchoring the same way all the time, and then make any final adjustments.
I have been shooting with one for the last year and 1/2 and would not switch bach to the peep. For me there are just too many advantages to using the no-peep!

I just put a No peep on my bow a few weeks ago and my groups are the best they have ever been. As long as your coming to the same anchor everytime the no peep should be lined up and you should shoot really well. If it has not been bumped out of place and your coming to the same anchor everytime I see no reason for you to not shoot better groups. Is your bow tuned? Checked for clearance? Are you comfortable with your draw weight and length? Since you've just started shooting I would think your groups will improve everytime you're out there. Practice, Practice, Practice!!!

I've read a lot of opinions of the no-peep on this forum, and they are overwhelmingly on the positive side. The advice I got from the main local archery shop here in town was that the no-peep is a worthless gimmick. I have always held their opinion in high regard, so I've never tried it. I hate using a peep sight, and I'm now considering giving the no-peep a try. There's still plenty of time before season for adjusting to it, I suppose. My groups could stand some tightening.

How does the no-peep effect target panick? Any benefits? Are there any real life hunting scenarios where the no-peep could be a disadvantage? Also, could someone post some pics of it or a link to a product website (I'm feeling lazy)? Many thanks.

I had a no-peep up until this past Elk season.

As someone said if they move any amout they are off the mark.
I was hunting on foot and off horse back. A bow gets knocked around a bit even in a quality scabbard type bow hold/case on horse back. When I went to draw back and alined the no-peep for my shot at the 6x6, I could just tell it was off. I resorted back to my anchor point and string to the nose, set the pin and scored on my Elk. A couple of days later I tried to shoot using the no-peep. It had moved and was way off the mark.
When I set it up it was dead nuts and I used lock tight on all the screws. Just to much chance of it moving so it came off my bow.
I went back to a string peep with a larger aperture with an amber insert for low light and it's working great.

Im not knocking the no-peep but it just does work for me becuse I move around to much and my bow take a beating at times.

I"m thinking about the no-peep also. I've been bowhuning since I was 19, (nearly 50 now), and in those early days, few people used peeps to hunt and were just getting going on the mech. releases. I shot my best back then when you really did focus and rely on good form and repeatable anchor points, which of course takes a lot of repetition/practice to make it automatic. My eyes are not what they used to be, so I'm thinking of the no-peep now, and hopes it helps to make sure my form is up to par. Good advice here! In archery, it's the little things that can make a large difference.

For the last few years, I was shooting a hoyt with a (built-in)n overdraw, but I had fits getting really good consistent groups due to my tendency (worsened by the bows design) torque it. It seems the overdraw magnifies any torque problems. I would get a 2 inch group here, then a 2 inch group over there... always in a group, but up to 6 or 8 inches difference between groups. Go Figure. I am starting fresh with a new leftover Quantum PSE, hoping to fix the problem. Better grip for me and longer Axle to axle and brace height- I can already tell it won't torque as bad. Can't wait to get it set up and get shooting regularly again!
Good luck!

I've been having one for a while now, and I never could achieve consistency shooting off the string. I initially bought the no peep to take my peep off and utilize all available light, but I just couldn't change my form from shooting with a peep. So I figured "what the he!!", and I bought a no-loose peep (not the rubber band type), drilled it out to at least 1/2" (very large - my friends thought I'd lost it!), and set the no-peep to my initial form shooting with a peep. It did take a while for me to get things set just right, but now I can see EVERYTHING through my peep, I have not lost my "comfortable" form, and can rip off feathers at 30 yds if I shoot at the same spot (I've learned not to do that now). Mine has never moved, and my bow has taken a few falls without incident. One thing is for sure though, when you set it - make sure you are comfortable. Eventually (after about 1000 shots), the no-peep trains you to draw the same way every time, so even if you can't see it, you are probbably right on the money. I shot in a dark tunnel for an indoor tournament where I couldn't see my no-peep the entire event (80 shots), and I won by 78 points! Made a believer out of me.
