starting to see bag limits increased everywhere lately, 120? Thats about 70 less than you can take in Northern VA. Season opens her the second or third week of Sept. ends the first Saturday in Jan. 2 a day everyday season is open except NO SUNDAY hunting. this past season they extended the season to March 27. thats 6 months and 2 week of deer season. the average month having 27 huntable days.....thats 324 deer could be taken legally.Only 3 of those could be bucks though. Unless you shot a buck in the late season that had dropped its' antlers. the late season was listed as ANTLERLESS deer. Not does but any deer that was antlerless.

you have to look at these bag limits realisticly.there are several states that have a buck and doe limit per day.i cannot imagine anyone being able to hunt every day of the season from bow hunting until the final day,nor can i see anyone killing that many deer to consume themselves.it is not a given that someone would see deer each day they hunt, let alone kill one.the average person works for a living and only has weekends, holidays and a couple of weeks vacation to hunt each year.i am semi-retired and hunt mon-thurs each week of the deer season and could not take that many deer even if i tryed.that is assuming that i could call someone each time i killed a deer to come and give it to.i sure could not eat over 2-3 per year.

BenfromVA,
Don't forget about the DMAP and DCAP tags. These let you kill an extra two per day. Therefor the total hkill per day could be 4 per.
Loner, If I only killed 2-3 deer per year we would never make it. Last year I put up 9 and had 1 package of steaks left when the opener arrived the first week of Oct. This year two of us put up 18 deer for two families.

Why would anyone shoot 120 deer? THat's not a sport anymore. That's a waste. If you ate venison 3 meals a day you still would have no need for that number....

why shoot 120 deer? because we can.
actually i hunt in 1 of those va counties that allow hunting till 3-27.
this is also the reason that i give shoulders/ribs necks to my friends dogs. dont have enough room in freezer for the lessor parts.
