RE: <UPDATE> Hybrid cams=winds of change blowing

For me, this whole experience has taught me that the company that yells the loudest isn't always the best.
I thought that when I got the bow up over the 260fps mark that it was going to be really freakin' loud. At this point I don't even have any string leeches on it and I am not sure if I need them. Len has a decible meter at his shop to check noise. A Bowtech and the Darton both shot 82db. Len told me his personal Darton with SVL all over it only had a reduction to 79db. My feeling is that 3db is imperceptable and not worth the price of the product or the reduction in speed.
Your thoughts?

I would say that if you were only look to reduce noise, then it would be worth much to add the SVL's. But the SVL will also reduce harmful vibrations. And you will find the bolts may not loosen up as easy.

Knowing Len I think I may already have the answer but were the two Dartons being compared the same model with the same setup? Did the Bowtech have the same setup installed? Are we comparing all of the bows with and without the Sims gear installed? If so then was the noise reduction still only 3 db?

PA, good questions. Not sure of the answer. The Bowtech is the property of another person that works in the shop. I could make some assumptions, but that would not be fair.

BobCo19-65, my Darton has Limbsavers on the limbs and the same material installed into the riser, just nothing on the string.

If I recall correctly, when I was at Len's shop I had the pleasure to inspect Len's personal bow of choice. It had about 10 lbs worth of accessories on it including a bow-mounted range finder. All those extra's could account for the fact that there was only a 3 db drop in noise.

Yea, Len does have some stuff on his bow, but what destroys me is the fact that he shoots a left handed bow right handed and can shoot just about any bow with either hand...accurately!
