Don't be modest. If you feel it's you just say so. If not you then who is?

I think that term is way to subjective to determine here on the boards. I am sure that there are some great hunters around here that we don't ever hear about their successes. Also, everyones criteria for what makes someone a good hunter is a little different. All that I can tell you for sure is who isn't the best hunter

My dog. Every hunt he has is a success. (Of course he only hunts the food bowl.)

Not I for sure. My vote goes for Rack Attack or ArticBowman. That buck in Rack Attack's pictures is excellent...and I seem to remember more than one. ABM takes more Alaskan game than what I typically see on the Discovery channel each day.

I am sure there are other very accomplished hunters who frequent this forum but I do not know of their accomplishments.

Which came first.... "the chicken or the egg"?

Which orange and which apple are you comparing?

The best hunter, bar none, that I know is my brother.... but then... he doesn't visit these boards.[&:]

I think we all know who he is................

Seriously, some of the guys I consider good whitetail hunters just based on reading their posts and seeing pics would be..........

Kcison
Rack
Silent
Shed33
Len
David

I know there are others I just can't think of..........

My vote for the best on this board over the last 2 season would be Kcison, his results speak for themselves.

The best hunter here is the guy who bowhunts public land whitetails and consistantly, every year, bags one of the bigger bucks thats taken in the area

Theres your damn good hunter, regardless of his username.

I'm not that impressed with people who kill big game and they do it on a game farm or high fenced operation. I'm not that impressed with the shooting of a 300" bull elk on a farm in Missouri, or 6 different types of African plains animals on Texas lease or things like that. Those ARE accomplishments, but not above and beyond when compared to Joe Bowhunter who nails big whitetails (or other big game) on heavily hunted public lands.

My Kansas whitetails don't measure up either using the same ruler. My Dad's 120" 7 pointer was much more of an accomplishment than my 140" 11 pointer from KS.

I was going to say the exact same thing. My brother has a wall with a long line of pope and young bucks. I know that taking lots of big bucks, does not necessarily mean you're a good hunter (at least in some areas). However, these were all taken from an area where only about 10% of the bucks make it to 2.5 years of age. In addition, bow season is only about one month each year, and you can only take one buck. Each year, he passes on anywhere from 20 to 40 immature bucks that come within his shooting range, so he can have an opportunity of getting a far more wary mature whitetail. When you see a guy repeatedly taking mature bucks in an area that is known for not having mature bucks, you know he got some skills.

Unfortunately, I have no personal knowledge of anyone's hunting ability who posts on these boards. I've seen some photos of nice bucks that were taken, but who knows if it was skill, luck or just the fact that they hunted in an area that provided more opportunities for larger animals. Each of us can think of someone we know is a very good hunter, but we have no way of knowing who is the best on an internet site.

I 100% agree with stealthycat on what he said. I guess it wouldn't have to be public land. But anyone that can consitantly put themselves in situations to shoot mature animals is a great hunter in my eyes. There can be variying degrees on someone getting lucky and shooting a monster. That's why just because someone shot a big buck doesn't really throw them into the "great" hunter category as I see it. Don't get me wrong, I'd like to be just a little lucky and shoot one. Wouldn't mean I'm much more of a hunter. Just a little more experienced maybe.
