Here is a perfect example of an UNETHICAL shot angle on a trophy class Tomato.

Note the ever alert stare and reflexes colied to spring at a moment's notice........

Now at first glance this shot seems like V8 on the hoof.....but consider the small vital area you have to shoot at with this angle.
Also look at the body language.....this is one nervous and wired creature!!
At the sound of your bow going off it is sure to drop with lightening quick reflexes given to it thru millions of years of evolution.
Which brings us to a question..."Just how fast does an arrow have to be to defeat the reflexes of a tomato?"

After analyzing this shot angle thoroughly, I'd say you really have to pass on this shot......I know B&C tomatoes don't come along everyday, but at least you'll have the peace of mind knowing that you didn't wound such a magnificent animal.

If you are able to recover you may qualify for the salad shooter awards book.

Well Taz, I'm pretty rough on people who take and make bad shots. I'm learning about TAH-MAH-TOE hunts and sure they have small vitals but GEEE, go to the range and practice first!
OH, and your description of the injury really made me heave, and I almost tossed my cookies. THANX!

The first question you must ask yourself is were you concidering this tomato a fruit or a vegetable. Either way wait it out. Watch for blue jays with red beaks. That is a good sign as to location.

I agree with the others, wait him out. You may have just hit him a glancing blow, wich would explain the lack of seed trial. Matt shows an excellent example of a shot not to take, but like big john, sometimes it's hard to tell the front from the back! LOL

Hope you don't find it after the coons do. Then does it become a kill or a pick up?

Wimp is right.... you better go after it. If someone steps on it first the cape is ruined and you'll have to claim it as a "Pick Up".

You need to get your arrow speed up to about 325 fps. those 'maters have excellent reflexes. You prob didn't make a bad shot...he prob jumped the string on ya.
