WOW that cased bow law is unreal. That is so absurd.

This is about as doomed a thread as I've ever seen.

Ok! I think we got off on the wrong foot here!
I don't intenstionally shoot deer after hunting hours, I dont think it's that black and white!
Of all the deer I've shot a couple of them were close!
My watch is different than yours, yours is different than the game
wardens ect...
Like I said before, do you set the alarm on your watch when your hunting?
If it's that close I say the tie goes to the shooter!

Say your in your stand, you know it's getting close to time up.
The deer of a lifetime steps out from the brush, he only needs to take a couple more steps to get a good shot. Do you look at your watch?

Most of the time when legal hunting hours are up it's to dark to shoot anyway!

Once a bowhunter takes part in actions deemed illegal under state or federal game laws.

In Maine it is illegal to bait deer. This is poaching.
In Texas I don't believe this to be the case and If game law allow baiting then I don't consider it poaching. I don't consider it fair chase but that is a different issue. Illegal, NO! Against my personal ethics, Yes.

Game laws are Black and White. They differ from state to state. Know the laws and avoid being the next poacher.

As for shooting deer after hours the law states a time to end and if you go past that you are violating. In WI I have talked to wardens and they have stated that they do give a little lee way on the issue but will not say how much.

My point exactly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Around here we go by the game wardens watch, why cause he's got the badge. What you say doesn't count. It's what the game warden says that counts. And I'll bet it's that way in Minnesota too. Matter of fact I know it is because I'm from there orginally. .

A deer of a lifetime doesn't make shooting after legal hours OK. It is still poaching.......whether it is 5 minutes or 5 hours doesn't matter......and a button buck all the way up to a new world record isn't gonna matter either way.

I hear similar things from people who know they are lethal with a bow to 20 yards for example and they say something like "I would NEVER shoot past 20 yards.............unless he was a freakin' monster!! [:'(] Like a huge racked deer suddenly expands their effective range

It's either one or the other. Ethics and morals are what you do when no one is looking.

For everyone who said they stay after hours if they can still see or their are deer around............would you do it if a game warden was watching you??

Better check the rules on that one. From what I was told you can't have your bow/gun loaded before or after hunting hours. You can go to your stand 3 hours before light but don't nock the arrow or load the gun until legal hours.
