Default Khe Sanh Hunting

Here's a seldom seen critter from the hills around Khe Sanh, Vietnam. My troops got this bad boy after I turned over the company. It was taken out as a suspect VC by an M60 machine gun. The troops had meat and rice for 4 days. Of course the Army cooks did a terrible job of preparing and cooking it. The 4th day one of the platoon sgts told the cook if they served meat over rice again they'd burn the cook tent down. No more rice was served.

Interesting. Im sure it taste better than dog or water buffalo, although they we.re all that bad.
I thought you were in the Army, the USMC occupied Khe Sanh. I did recon in that area for the USMC, didn't see any of those critters or any other US Army units. When were you guys there?

Nice pic David. For a second there I thought you were having some sort of dyslexia moment with the spelling of the title.

So what did they have with meat on the fourth day?

LOGS... This was in 1971. Most of the Marines were long gone. The Army had moved into the area. This was after I turned over my company in 1970. Some of my old troops were still around and posted this on our unit website. When this baby was killed I was eating steaks back at Fort Benning, US of A......not some dink chow.

Me too, I served an earlier tour in Dec 67-Dec 68 back in Sept 69-Sept 70. I liked it because the ammo was free and there were no closed seasons or bag limits.
