I just heard that the kid sold the buck for 2,000,000 yep 2mill. The final buyer was Cabelas.
If you think about it that was smart for them. They can make as many replicas as they want of the buck now and put them in all of their stores and at shows/outposts/etc.
But that shure proves the jokers wrong about how little the buck is acctually worth!

"We do own the deer," said Bass Pro Shops spokesman Larry Whitely.
The Minneapolis Star Tribune reports the Lovstuen buck may have fetched close to $100,000.
Doug Lovstuen said his family will have a set of replica antlers to display at hunting and trade shows.

I love big bucks as much as anyone, but in the big picture............the quest for antlers is slowly killing our hunting heritage. I don't blame the family for selling the buck, but I am not paying admission to see a replica.

In my opinion, the buck had a much nicer rack 2 years earlier. The rack he died with (after being gut shot by the kid) might have been larger, but I liked it's former rack better.
