RE: NEEDED INFO ON JACKALOPES
I've checked the regs and NC has no season for them. I then called DNR and found out that they are protected species in North Carolina. The punishment is $10,000.00 and/or 6 months in jail for shooting one.

RE: NEEDED INFO ON JACKALOPES
I have noticed that Lopes are best garnished with a side of Crow. Just be sure to eat'em while there hot. Cause everyone knows the longer you wait the tougher the Crow is to swallow.

RE: NEEDED INFO ON JACKALOPES
then how do you explain all the nice trophy mounts?

RE: NEEDED INFO ON JACKALOPES
being born and raised in Texas, I've hunted them for several years they are quite the Trophy. There are no special tags for them at least not that I know of. Full moons are the best time between 2:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. are the best hours. better have a fast bow also those buggers can put the speed on. Hope this helps.

RE: NEEDED INFO ON JACKALOPES
Come on folks let's give ole Houdini a break. Being a born and raised West Texan I grew up in the middle of some prime jackalope country. During rut these little beggers go nuts in packs. They have a tendency to hide in mesguites and prickly pear clumps and will attack at the drop of a hat. I've seen their carnege and it is repulsive. Don't take them lightly just because they look sweet on a barber shop wall. I put them in the same class as a werewolf or maybe even godzilla. They have no sense of humor. BE VERY, VERY CAREFULL!!!!!!!

RE: NEEDED INFO ON JACKALOPES
i heard the best way to kill a jackalope is to get a carrot and put some ...........mustard on it.....makes the jackalope stomach turn inside out......making him to die on the spot....:):):):)[X(][&:][8D]:););)

RE: NEEDED INFO ON JACKALOPES
I have hunted them for years living in texas. An old mexican man told me when I first started hunting them that the best way to get one is to bait them in witch is legal in texas. He told me to take some carrots and put them in jalapeno juice over night. Set them on the trail then setup next to the nearest stock tank. They eat the carrots and run into the tank now here is the trick you use bowfishing gear to stick them, Its like fighting a shake when bringing them in. Good luck

RE: NEEDED INFO ON JACKALOPES
I've seen em allright......The yare very dangerous creatures, I dont know why God ever made such a thing. I seen one one night when I was spottin, he had someone's pet dog in his mouth draggin it out through the field. As soon as the light hit the little bugger he dropped the dog and took off at about mach 3. We went over and checked the dog, and sure enough it was dead, you could see where the little demon creature was gnawing at the dog's skull.
Another incident was last year. I was out squirrel huntin. I came up over a hill and saw 3 of the darned things jumping around, climbing trees, and chasing squirrels and killing them!!!!. Now I had my 12 ga., so I though I could maybe take care of these 3 little satan pets. Boy was I wrong. After I shot and killed the first one my gun was empty. The other 2 just slowly turned and looked at me, and I SWEAR TO GOD, their eyes turned bright red. No I aint gonna lie, I WAS SCARED. Luckily there was a good melock tree right by me. I climbing that tree in record time. Now those little demons can climb but only when there is limbs. So on my way up I was kickin limbs off the tree for about 10-15 feet. Luckily they couldn't reach me. After about 10 hours in that hemlock they decided to give up and go over the hill,(probably to kill more livestock at the neighbors farm) Anyways I was very thankful to escape that day with my life. You can't trust those little demons, so watch out if your in the woods and see one. Dont try to kill it unless you have a big big gun. Just leave them alone and dont agitate them and slowly go around them. Just watch out and be very very careful if you think they are around your area. |
